Security doors & flyscreens in Corrimal.

Corrimal runs from the rail line down to the surf at Corrimal Beach and Towradgi, which puts a lot of it squarely in the salt-air zone. That is exactly where mesh choice makes or breaks a security door. We fit 316 marine-grade stainless for the coastal streets and install across Corrimal, East Corrimal, Towradgi and Tarrawanna.

Why Corrimal

The Corrimal security door story.

Coastal salt air is the deciding factor.

East Corrimal and Towradgi sit a few streets back from the surf, and the salt spray carried in on the north-easterly is relentless. In that environment, aluminium-perforated screens and 304 stainless pit, stain and corrode within a handful of years. For homes east of the Princes Highway we fit 316 marine-grade stainless steel mesh on marine-grade powder-coated frames rated to AS 3715, which is the spec that actually survives the Corrimal coast. West of the highway, up towards Tarrawanna and the escarpment, we can step the spec down.

A mix of old beach cottages and new units.

Corrimal has plenty of original fibro and brick beach cottages alongside a growing stock of townhouses and unit blocks near the station. The older homes take a hinged security door and fitted window screens cleanly. Units and townhouses often need a sliding security door to a balcony, fitted to satisfy both security and any strata requirements about external appearance.

Open windows for the sea breeze, kept secure.

The whole appeal of living near Corrimal Beach is the breeze, so homes here run windows open most of the year. That makes window security screens on the ground-floor and bedroom windows worth doing early, so the house can breathe without becoming an easy target while everyone is at the beach.

Typical Corrimal jobs.

  • Front and back security doors in 316 stainless ($1,800-$2,700)
  • Full set of ground-floor and bedroom window screens in 316 ($1,200-$2,000)
  • Sliding security door to a unit balcony
  • Retractable flyscreen on a bi-fold facing the beach
  • Flyscreen refresh on an old beach cottage in UV-stabilised mesh

A worked example.

A brick home two streets back from Towradgi Beach does the front and rear doors in 316 stainless ($1,280 + $1,300) plus four 316 window screens at $270 each ($1,080), total $3,660 supplied and installed. We use 316 throughout because the home is well within the salt-spray zone, where anything less will not last.
